Bactroban Drug Information
Bactroban (generic name: mupirocin; brand names include: Centany) is an antibiotic.
Bactroban is used to treat certain skin infections such as impetigo and furuncle. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.
There are 2 Bactroban products available: cream and nasal ointment. Both are supplied in 5 g tubes containing the active ingredient mupirocin calcium 2%.
Bactroban Directions and Recommendations
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Use your medicine exactly as directed.
Bactroban is usually applied to the affected area 3 times daily. The treated area may be covered with a bandage.
Bactroban Precautions
Tell your doctor before taking Bactroban, if:
you are allergic to any medicines;
you have any serious medical conditions including kidney disease;
you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
