Cefpodoxime (generic name: cefpodoxime proxetil; brand names include: Cefocep) is used for treating mild to moderate infections caused by certain bacteria.
Cefpodoxime is an oral third generation cephalosporin antibiotic.
It is used to treat infections such as pneumonia; bronchitis; gonorrhea; and ear, skin, throat, and urinary tract infections.
Cefpodoxime works by interfering with the formation of the bacteria's cell wall so that the wall ruptures, resulting in the death of the bacteria. It treats many kinds of infections, including those of the respiratory tract, skin, and ears.

Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand.
Cefpodoxime works best if it is taken at the same time each day. Take Cefpodoxime with food.
To clear up your infection completely, take Cefpodoxime for the full course of treatment. Keep taking it even if you feel better in a few days.
If you miss a dose of Cefpodoxime, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose, and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
